A quick peek at R'lyeh ... by CID228 A quick peek at R'lyeh ... by CID228
A sketch I did at work a while back ..never got any further than this, but last couple of days I thought about it and managed to find it in the rubble. A few more stones has since this scan entered the earthly realm of the great old one we know best ...maybe ill get it done some time in the near future.

I've seen plenty of attempts to draw R'lyeh, and this may be the best yet. It's very difficult to visually capture a city that is built according to alien geometery. But looking at this pic almost makes my head hurt. Good job.
I want to see more!

Reminds me of Escher's stairs.
(I read in another comment someone writes 'bout Into the Labyrinth; some parts of the movie were inspired by Escher pictures)
Anyway, a well done effect. Cthulhu would be pleased!

My pleasure! Look for Escher pictures first (if you don't know, of course)

The Escher stairs I have seen ofc! One of my favourite games ever had a version of it, Final Fantasy 7, in the temple of the ancients.
But the Bowie movie I have'nt seen yet! =D

The movie is not a Blockbuster, for me, but is nice. And Bowie... is Bowie :alien:

..just saw the trailer! I must see this one. How can it go wrong(?); Jennifer Connelly, Hairy goblins and "The Excitement of David Bowie"! =D + "The Wizardry of George Lucas"!

Film with David Bowie in it that came out in the 70's or 80's around the same time "the never ending story came out" which I was gutted about coz it ended..... they should av' called it "the story that nearly never ends"

Well, I like my work, but sometimes it's just a bit slow. Sadly it's a bit more rushy nowadays, so time for painting or sketching "on the clock" is scarce.

I love this. I love how lifelike and real the bricks look. This is how I imagine mine to look except they never turn out like this lol!

Captures the strange geometry of the place very well indeed. I'm a great fan of Lovecraft, and it's good to see his work visualized.

I'm glad to have this feedback, gives me motivation to continue to build these kind of scenes.
